Hemau Launches "Tree for a Tree" Campaign for New Recreational Area

The city of Hemau is inviting its citizens to participate in the "Tree for a Tree" campaign, an initiative aimed at creating the "Green Heart of Hemau". This new recreational area will be developed between Volksfestplatz and Waldfriedhof, transforming a previously agriculturally used area into a vibrant, green space.

Mayor Herbert Tischhöfer emphasises the importance of citizen involvement in the design of the "Green Heart of Hemau". Citizens can contribute by donating suitable trees for the project. To do so, they can contact the Hemau city administration at Tel. 09491/94000 or by email at [email protected].

The city is seeking strong deciduous trees from private gardens, with a trunk circumference of approximately 20 to 30 cm (depending on the species, measured at a height of one meter). Broad-crowned native deciduous trees such as lindens, maples, oaks, fruit trees, ashes, or birches are particularly welcome.

The relocation of donated trees is an additional step towards achieving the goal of planting as many native deciduous trees as possible in the new recreational area. Each donated tree is seen as a gain for the city's climate and biodiversity.

On-site evaluation will be conducted to determine if a large tree transplantation is technically feasible and reasonable. The trees needed are aged around 10 to 20 years.

Every donated tree will serve as a lasting contribution for future generations. The "Tree for a Tree" campaign continues to encourage the donation of strong deciduous trees from private gardens, as the city of Hemau remains committed to creating the "Green Heart of Hemau" sustainably and resource-efficiently.

For precise steps on how to donate a native deciduous tree and participate in the "Green Heart of Hemau" project, we recommend checking Hemau’s official city website or contacting the local town hall or environmental office directly. They can provide specific instructions on how to donate a tree and contribute to this exciting initiative.
