Police department unveils plans for a green-structured police station, slated for construction under blue night sky.
In a move to improve working conditions for police officers and modernise public infrastructure, the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is set to construct a new police station in Bad Doberan. This project forms part of a comprehensive investment program called "Seven at Once", which aims to build seven new police buildings in the region.
Finance and Digitalization Minister Dr. Heiko Geue (SPD) has emphasised the importance of investing in infrastructure for modern administration. Approximately 16 million euros will be allocated for the construction in Bad Doberan, with a total of 100 million euros being invested from the federal infrastructure special fund across all seven projects.
The new building, based on the "Heringsdorf model", will provide police officers with a modern workplace that meets current standards. The design prioritises climate-compatible construction, incorporating a photovoltaic system, energy-efficient technology, and low-emission materials. The planned structure will be a four-story building.
Besides Bad Doberan, other cities where new police authorities are to be established as part of the state construction program are not yet specified. However, it has been announced that in Waren and Güstrow, individual new buildings tailored to specific local requirements will be created.
The aim of the new building is to strengthen the citizens' proximity to the police. By offering a modern and efficient workplace, it is hoped that police officers will be better equipped to serve the community.
The construction project in Bad Doberan is scheduled to begin in summer 2026. The state government is continuing its strategy of modernising and adapting public infrastructure in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with this new building. Similar projects are planned in Gadebusch, Ueckermünde, Sassnitz, and Friedland.
By investing in these new police stations, the state government is demonstrating its commitment to improving working conditions for police officers and ensuring that they have the tools they need to effectively serve the public. This investment in infrastructure is crucial for modern administration and will undoubtedly benefit the citizens of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
