Prioritization of pedestrians at the Hansetag event
In the heart of Neuss, Germany, preparations are underway for the highly anticipated 42nd International Hansetag, taking place from May 26 to 29. Alongside the festivities, there are some important traffic updates to be aware of.
Road Closures and Limited Access
Certain streets in the city center, especially around the festival area, will be closed to private motor vehicle traffic to accommodate pedestrian zones and event setups. Residents of Hammer Landstraße can only use the street as a one-way street from the Hessentor intersection towards the Rheinparkcenter outside of certain closure times, with access beginning from Tuesday, May 24, 7 PM, to Monday, May 30, around 0:30 AM. Batteriestraße and Hessentordamm will also be reduced to one lane on Wednesday from noon onwards, and closed from Thursday to Sunday as specified.
Parking Restrictions
Parking spaces near the event zones will be restricted or reserved for event participants, emergency vehicles, and public transportation.
Public Transport Adjustments
Bus and tram routes might be altered or detoured around the festival area to ensure smooth flow and safety.
Increased Pedestrian Zones
Parts of the city center will have expanded pedestrian-only areas during event times.
Access for Residents and Delivery
Residents in restricted zones may have special permits or defined time windows for access and deliveries.
For exact streets affected and alternative routes, it’s best to check the official Neuss city website or local event announcements closer to the event dates. If you plan to drive, consider using park-and-ride options and public transport to avoid restrictions.
