Re-use instead of discard: A new opportunity to breathe life into old items

In the heart of Neustrelitz, a unique community initiative is making a difference - the Repair Café, located at Borwinheim, Bruchstraße 15.

This innovative space invites guests to bring their broken items, small furniture, and torn or ripped textiles. Whether it's a favourite chair with a wobbly leg or a cherished piece of clothing with a tear, the Repair Café is here to help.

But the Repair Café is more than just a place to fix broken items. It's a learning hub where guests can pick up repair tips, if they wish, but there's no pressure. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, much like a cozy café, with coffee and cake available to fuel those repair sessions.

The Repair Café focuses on sustainability, offering repairs for broken items, electronic devices, or clothing. It's a chance for the community to come together, learn, and contribute to a greener Neustrelitz.

The bike workshop, staffed by skilled volunteers, is a popular feature. It's open during specific times, including Friday afternoons.

The Repair Café sessions are held in the basement of the building, and they take place from 3 to 6 PM on three designated dates: September 19, October 17, and November 21.

Anyone is welcome to contribute to the Repair Café. Whether it's donating a homemade cake or lending a hand with repairs, every bit helps. The Repair Café also welcomes contributions from the community, such as donations to help keep the café running.

If you're interested in learning more about the Repair Café or would like to get involved, you can contact the volunteers via email at [email protected]. Together, we can make Neustrelitz a more sustainable city, one repair at a time.
