The medieval town of Castro Marim in Portugal will once again transform into a faithful recreation of the Middle Ages, as the 26th edition of the Medieval Days event takes place from August 27th to 31st, 2025.

This highly anticipated historical reenactment will see Castro Marim Castle serve as the event's epicenter, offering live demonstrations of medieval crafts such as leatherworking and iron production. The town's streets will be filled with kings, knights, jesters, merchants, and magical creatures, transporting visitors back in time.

The event will feature special participation from the twin French town Guérande and Cortegana in Spain, bringing an international flavor to the performances. Medieval horse tournaments, organized partly by the National Republican Guard, are also part of the lineup.

Exclusive medieval-themed banquets will take place in an atmospheric torch-lit space, serving seasonal delicacies accompanied by performances from entertainment groups. Tickets for these banquets and events are available online and at local points of sale.

Visitors can also experience arts and crafts exhibits, watch medieval spectacles, and enjoy street performances by historical figures like monarchs and minstrels. There are opportunities to explore the town dressed in medieval costume and visit the castle and archaeological museum as part of guided tours.

The Medieval Days are organized by the municipality of Castro Marim and will include a variety of entertainers, extras, and townspeople. Approximately 30 entertainment groups from countries including Italy and France will participate in the event.

The historical recreation of civil and military daily life in the 17th century, during the Restoration period, will take place at the Fort of S. Sebastião. Professionals from the Royal Academy of the Rosary will present and demonstrate at the Fort.

Castro Marim Castle will host exhibitions of instruments of torture and punishment and the First Headquarters of the Order of Christ. The performances will feature street theater, jugglers, fire-breathers, bagpipers, tightrope walkers, swordsmen, snake charmers, parades, and falconry demonstrations. These groups will perform across various stages, including the market and Castro Marim Castle.

The parade, including all participants dressed in medieval costumes, takes place on the first and last days of the event.
