Baby names trend in Rhineland-Palatinate as Noah and Emilia claim top spots - Rhineland-Palatinate witnessed Noah and Emilia as the most frequently chosen baby names this year.
It's a new era in Rhineland-Palatinate as the Society for the German Language (GfdS) reveals that Noah and Emilia are the most popular baby names in the region for the year 2024. Matheo and Sophia held the top spots in 2023.
In the runner-up and third place for boys, we find Matheo and Henry. The female top three consists of Emma and Sophia.
Nationwide, Sophia and Noah maintain their coveted positions
Across Germany, Sophia and Noah continue to dominate the baby name scene. New parents embraced these names more than any others in 2024. According to GfdS CEO Andrea Ewels, the enduring appeal of these names likely stems from their distinctive sounds.
For over four decades, the GfdS has been publishing an annual list of the most frequently given German first names. Collected data comes from approximately 750 local registration offices, providing nearly 900,000 entries. This means that nearly 92% of all first names given in Germany in 2024 were accounted for, reported the GfdS [1].
