Royals Prince William and Kate Might Be Planning a Significant Residential Relocation

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate Middleton, are reportedly contemplating a major house move from their current residence, Adelaide Cottage, to Fort Belvedere, a historic gothic-revival mansion on the Windsor Estate.

The potential relocation is driven by the growing needs of their family, as Adelaide Cottage, a four-bedroom property, is now deemed too small for their children who are on the cusp of their teenage years. The family is preparing for the future as the heir to the throne, Prince William, and his wife, Kate, prepare to ascend the throne.

Fort Belvedere, an 18th-century mansion, offers more space and amenities that cater to their needs. The property boasts a swimming pool and tennis court, which their daughter Charlotte is said to enjoy. The mansion is situated on 59 acres and includes numerous features such as a rose garden, greenhouse, stables, lakes, paddocks, and staff cottages.

However, the move to Fort Belvedere is not without complications. The lease for the property is currently held by the Weston family, Canadian billionaires, who have lived there since the early 1980s, raising questions about its availability. Additionally, King Charles reportedly disapproves of the move due to the expected high costs of renovating Fort Belvedere, describing it as an "unnecessary extravagance."

Despite these challenges, the family's home, Adelaide Cottage, has been a refreshingly normal home for them, with enforced rules to ensure a family-oriented dynamic. The Royal Lodge, a Grade II listed seven-bedroom property, was also reportedly offered to the family last year, but the status of this potential move is not clear.

The Wales family seems quite content where they are, according to royal expert Gareth Russell. However, with the growing needs of their family, and the prestige and suitability of Fort Belvedere, the move remains a possibility rather than a confirmed relocation.

This summer, the family of five has been the most-talked-about in the royal circle. Their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, have increased their public appearances, showcasing their growing roles in the royal family. Whether they will be moving to Fort Belvedere or staying put at Adelaide Cottage, one thing is certain - the Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing their family for the future.
