The city of Neuwied has introduced a new service aimed at improving mobility across the entire city area - the Neuwied Citizen Bus. This modern eight-seater bus, operated by dedicated volunteers, brings people together and enables participation, particularly benefiting elderly residents.
The Neuwied Citizen Bus project is a joint initiative between the city of Neuwied and the Senior Citizens' Council. The city provides the premises, phone, and program for the Citizen Bus tasks at the Historical Town Hall, while the service is supported by the Stadtwerke Neuwied (SWN) and the Community Housing Association (GSG).
The Citizen Bus drivers take guests to their destinations, including medical appointments, shopping, and administrative appointments. No passenger transport license is required for driving the Neuwied Citizen Bus, making it accessible for volunteers.
