In the heart of Düsseldorf, Germany, the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) hosted a spring reception at the Theater an der Kö, bringing together city leaders, politicians, and community members to celebrate the organisation's mission and achievements.

The ASB, a humanitarian aid and social welfare organisation, is renowned for its commitment to providing fast, professional medical assistance, supporting vulnerable populations, and disaster protection. During large-scale disaster response exercises and in times of crisis, the ASB plays a crucial role, offering aid to affected communities and ensuring continuity of care and social support.

Manfred Abels, the chairman of the AWO district association, welcomed guests at the reception. Abels emphasised the importance of solidarity, a mission that the AWO has upheld for over 100 years.

Stephan Keller, the mayor of the city, was also in attendance. In his greeting, he emphasised the ASB's vital role in supporting the city's social life, especially during the pandemic. Keller noted the ASB's cooperation with the state capital as extremely constructive.

The ASB provides services in various aspects of city life, including youth vocational training, school social work, child and youth welfare, senior and disability care, and advice for people with a migration background. The organisation is not denominationally bound and provides help regardless of nationality or religion.
