Spacious model railway station located at Weißenstein

The Weißenstein Station, located at Belremstraße 70, is a popular destination for model train enthusiasts and a testament to the enduring charm of railway culture. Easily accessible by car, city bus line 3, and the cultural railway/Nagold Valley Railway, the station serves as a museum and a hub for the Pforzheim Model Train Enthusiasts.

Originally the clubhouse of the station, the Weißenstein Station has been meticulously rebuilt and restored since 1988. Trains of various gauges run on four floors, from the basement to the attic, creating a miniature railway world that is a sight to behold.

The replica at Weißenstein Station includes largely original track, train, and model material. One of the highlights is the replica of the Maerklin layout, which was first presented by the Swabian manufacturer at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1939.

The Pforzheim Model Train Enthusiasts, a club with approximately 100 members, maintain and expand the layout. Different working groups ensure that each exhibition runs smoothly, from 10 am to 6 pm, welcoming several thousand visitors.

During the recent exhibition days, models of the Rhaetian Railway from Switzerland were running on the layout. This year's exhibition theme is the "LGB Driving Days," held in honor of the 50th anniversary of the garden model railway LGB.

In the coming weekends, smaller modifications will allow German narrow-gauge railways and railways from the USA to run on the same layout. The income from the exhibitions and a traditional book sale in November benefits the Pforzheim Model Train Enthusiasts and the maintenance of the Weißenstein Station.

A large LGB model railway layout in gauge 1 can be found in the goods hall of the Weißenstein Station. Control of the Maerklin layout is with historical transformers and control panels, adding to the authenticity of the experience.

The upcoming exhibitions in January and February will feature German Narrow-Gauge Railways (14th and 21st of January) and USA Railways (28th of January and 4th of February). The Weißenstein Station continues to be a pilgrimage destination for model train enthusiasts, especially during significant events like the recent exhibition days around Epiphany.

Visitors to the Weißenstein Station are invited to step into a world of meticulously crafted miniature landscapes, historical transformers, and the joy of model trains. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a curious newcomer, the Weißenstein Station offers an immersive and educational experience that celebrates the beauty and history of railway culture.
