Stiftung Warentest Names Top Neck Pillows for Back and Side Sleepers
Stiftung Warentest recently evaluated 14 neck pillows, focusing on those suitable for back and side sleepers. The test revealed that while none of the pillows failed, only five excelled in their primary function: support.
The choice of a neck pillow depends on various factors such as sleeping position, body type, mattress firmness, and personal comfort preferences. Neck pillows are designed to provide a gentle sleeping position for the back and spine, potentially aiding in back pain relief. Stiftung Warentest found that good neck pillows are available from around 70 euros.
Brands offering well-rated neck pillows include Siebenschläfer, Buddysleep, Vitalife, BeCo, Diamona, Dormabell, and Centa-Star. These brands offer options with features like orthopedic visco-gel padding, visco-air foam, and climate-regulating materials. Other popular brands like Tempur, F.A.N., Ergonomic, and Tranquillo provide memory foam, latex, gel, and polyester padding options.
A good neck pillow should support the neck without bending it or overextending the neck muscles. Stiftung Warentest recommends considering individual requirements when choosing a neck pillow, rather than solely relying on product promises.
Stiftung Warentest's top-rated neck pillow is Emma's, priced at 100 euros, which received a 'Good' rating for its adjustability and comfort. Meanwhile, Blackroll's Recovery Pillow, priced at 99 euros, performed mediocrely due to lack of individual adjustability but offers easy storage and transport.
