Sustainable Business Award: Acceptance Period Now Active
The Sustainable Business Award 2025, now in its fourth edition, is a prestigious recognition for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Italy that have integrated sustainability into their growth strategy. This award, funded by the PNRR, is a collaboration between Piccola Industria of Confindustria, the Pontifical Committee for the World Day of Children, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, and Unioncamere.
Eligibility
Candidates for the award typically include researchers, companies, or initiatives that focus on sustainability, particularly in the fields of energy, environment, and the circular economy. For the 'Young Researcher' category, recent PhD graduates from Italian universities who defended their thesis within the last two years and were born in or after 1992 are eligible.
Categories
The award categories cover a wide range of topics, including:
- Energy Frontiers, which recognises innovation in energy and sustainable technologies.
- The Young Researcher category, which honours PhD theses focused on energy and environmental sustainability.
- Circular economy and initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Projects, innovations, or products that reduce environmental impact in the Environmental Sustainability category.
- Strategies that generate job growth and value on the territory, promoting a solid and resilient business model in the Economic Sustainability category.
Submission Requirements
To apply, candidates must submit:
- A completed application and CV form, either uploaded or sent by email to the official award secretariat.
- A declaration of awareness and compliance with ethical standards, such as the Eni Code of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Guidelines.
- Evidence that the results or research relate to SDGs, environmental impact, socio-economic benefits, and innovative approaches.
- For young researchers, the thesis must be defended at an Italian university by a set deadline, such as December 31, 2024.
Submissions should also provide documentation supporting originality, impact, and innovative technology or methodology.
Aim of the Award
The Sustainable Business Award aims to highlight companies that have turned change into a lasting competitive advantage. The enterprises recognised through the award serve as models of excellence for the entire national ecosystem, operating in a context marked by energy transition, evolution of the supply chain, and digitalization of processes.
