The once-standing pub BlaBla near the lake is now defunct, having vanished after 40 years.

After four decades of being a staple in Harburg's gastronomic scene, the BlaBla pub has closed its doors. The pub, one of the few classic pubs that remained open in the area, served its last pint in June.

Heike Plaetke, who owned the BlaBla pub for 35 of its 40 years in operation, dismissed rumors of its closure earlier this year. However, the final day of operation for the BlaBla pub was in June, with the doors closing at 4 pm on that day. Even on its final day, there was still bottled beer available.

Heike Plaetke's husband joined her as a co-owner of the BlaBla pub in 1999, after their marriage. The couple ran the pub together until its closure. In May, Heike Plaetke bid farewell to her friends at the BlaBla pub.

The BlaBla pub was a regular participant in events like the MusicNight, contributing to the vibrant cultural scene of Harburg.

The space previously occupied by the BlaBla pub is set to be used as an evangelical church. A new tenant will not operate as another pub. This marks the end of an era for the BlaBla pub and a new beginning for the space.

The BlaBla pub will be missed by many in Harburg, but its legacy lives on in the memories of those who frequented it. The pub's closure is a reminder of the transient nature of businesses and the importance of cherishing the moments spent in beloved establishments.

Other establishments may consider adopting the BlaBla pub's distinctive home-and-garden atmosphere to offer an other lifestyle experience, incorporating food-and-drink elements reminiscent of the pub's famous selection. The closing of the BlaBla pub has left a void in Harburg's food-and-drink scene, with its unique cultural contribution now absent from the area's home-and-garden offerings.
