In the heart of Mainz Altstadt, the historic city centre, a new dining destination is set to captivate locals and visitors alike. The Mexican restaurant Sausalitos, once a popular spot at Mitternachtsgasse 1, has made way for a vibrant newcomer: the Greek fusion restaurant and bar Ozias.

Ozias, a unique taverna that fuses traditional Greek flavours with modern culinary twists, is the brainchild of restaurateur Salim. As a trained professional with a successful history of owning restaurants in Koblenz, Limburg, and the Odenwald, Salim aims to create a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that appeals to a diverse crowd.

The concept of Ozias combines the charm of traditional Greek tavernas with a modern, innovative approach to cuisine. The venue offers a regular menu, a monthly special featuring seasonal dishes, and a snack menu with cakes, tapas, and warm snacks. The presence of a bar and entertainment, including DJs, complements this trendy and social dining experience.

Unique features of Ozias include its fusion approach to traditional Greek cuisine, differentiating it from classic Greek restaurants. The integration of a bar and a lively nightlife vibe, with DJ sets, further enhances the overall social and entertainment experience. Its location in the historic Mainz Altstadt, taking over a well-known spot, potentially attracts a diverse crowd interested in both cultural and culinary experiences.

The indoor area of Ozias can accommodate around 90 guests and will receive a lighter colour scheme, with the old bar being tiled and the former cushion corner transformed into an "Instagram photo spot". The back area of the restaurant will be available for private events, accommodating around 120 to 150 people. Families are welcome, and children's meals will be available.

Ozias will have a soft opening in mid-September for staff training and feedback gathering. The official opening will occur in October, without any guest limitations. A student discount on food and drinks is also planned.

Salim, who recently returned from a short break to his family in the southeastern part of Greece and Athens to recover from burnout, is excited to document the journey to the opening of Ozias on the YouTube channel "Ozias - Our Dream Begins".

With its fusion cuisine, combining classic Greek recipes with Asian or Mediterranean influences, Ozias promises to be an exciting addition to Mainz's culinary scene. Stay tuned for more updates on this intriguing new restaurant.

At Ozias, the new Greek fusion restaurant and bar in Mainz Altstadt, one can expect an array of food-and-drink offerings that fuse traditional Greek flavors with modern culinary twists, creating a unique dining experience. In addition, the venue boasts a home-and-garden setting, providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for both local and international visitors.
