The city of Munich has expanded its offerings for residents and visitors with the opening of a new playground at Theresienwiese. Besides the recently renovated water playground at Gollierplatz, the area now boasts a variety of additional facilities and activities.
A Versatile Play Environment for Children
The new playground covers an area of 4,400 square meters and caters to children of all ages with its diverse range of equipment. Climbing and sand play areas have been installed, featuring various climbing nets, bridges, ramps, and gangways. The play tower, standing at 7.60 meters high, offers a "play dome" with a 360-degree view and can be accessed via a ground-level gangway. The lower level of the play tower is barrier-free, making it accessible for all.
For the more active kids, a station with strength equipment, jumping mats, and a trampoline has been installed. Calisthenics equipment and a slackline have also been added for those who prefer a more balanced workout. Part of the play stations in the east of Theresienwiese now even feature a zip line for children.
Fitness Trails and Equipment for Adults
Adults looking to stay active can make use of the fitness trails that have been integrated into some of the play stations in the southeast. A station designed specifically for seniors offers an upper body ergometer, a floating platform, and two leg movers. Additionally, a station with equipment for arm pull, push-ups, and stretching exercises has been created. The table tennis tables at the playground have also been renovated for those who enjoy a friendly game.
Relaxation and Social Spaces
Besides the play equipment, the area serves as a community hub with a laid-back vibe. Benches for adults have been placed nearby, allowing them to relax and watch their kids or simply enjoy the atmosphere. An adjacent boules court is available for adults to play and socialize. The area is ideal for picnics and family outings, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely day out.
