Harburg Duck Race 2021: A Successful Charity Event

The 14th annual Rubber Ducks Duck Race took place at the Harburg Outer Mill, organised by the Harburg Rotary Club. Over 2,000 visitors attended the event, making it a lively and bustling day.

The highlight of the race was the participation of the middle school orchestra "Greenhorns" from the Heisenberg Gymnasium, who provided music to entertain the crowd. Other activities included face painting for children and a cozy coffee and cake tent.

The Volunteer Fire Department Eißendorf played a crucial role in the event, providing the necessary boost for the ducks with water from three hoses. This year, due to a headwind, the ducks started from the other side, swimming towards the target.

The event saw a record number of prizes, with every tenth ticket winning a prize. The winner of the duck race can expect a spoiling weekend at the Baltic Sea in Kühlungsborn for two people.

Purchasing race licenses supported social projects in Harburg, with a large donation made to the Harburg Food Bank. The event also saw the participation of a wheel of fortune and a food stand from the Bruzzelhütte, which attracted long lines.

Rotarian Luhr Weber fished the first duck out of the water to determine the winner. A total of 300 more ducks needed to be registered due to the high number of prizes this year.

Unfortunately, specific details about the 2021 Harburg Duck Race, including its winners, are not readily available online. For more information, one might check local Harburg community archives, official event websites, or contact event organisers directly.

Participants had an opportunity to enjoy outdoor-living in the picturesque setting of the Harburg Outer Mill, with home-and-garden activities such as face painting for children and a cozy coffee and cake tent. Other social ventures showcased at the event included a wheel of fortune and a food stand from the Bruzzelhütte.
