Hot and Humid, but Suzanne's Still Shining Bright

Thursday Night Lawn-Mowing Contest 2025: Week 4 -- Suzanne Steps up Significantly in Race for Mower of the Year Award

The usual suspects, like Colt Bradfords and TJ Bollmers, were expected to perform. But this league is a dynamic beast, always eager to surprise us with fresh faces ready to make waves. Enter Suzanne, the fiery Texan, setting the bar high just four weeks into the season.

One hot afternoon, Suzanne unwound after a tiring mowing session by diving into her pool to escape the scorching heat. She's not just about the grind, this lady knows the ropes of the league and the scoring system. Smart as a whip, she didn't miss a beat, sipping on a cold one while chilling in her pool, all while rocking the league colors and her Bret Michaels cowboy hat - a move that speaks volumes of her intuition and keen understanding of the game.

That's the kind of smarts it takes to survive a grueling season. Mowing, drinking, and making a name for herself - it's all par for the course for Suzanne. That's how you win titles.

I, however, took a Did Not Mow thanks to a recreational ball game I had to coach and some traveling. But my mind never strayed from the league.

Thursday morning, I paid a visit to my ol' hometown of Brookville, Ohio, dropping by the Brookville Rental, a Stihl dealer. The time had come to invest in a durable trimmer. My Kobalt trimmer wasn't cutting it, with its battery no longer available and replacement cartridges being ridiculously overpriced. So, I decided it was time to upgrade to a Stihl FSA 57 11 in. 36 V trimmer - hoping it would last me a good decade.

Now, my lawn care tools are well-equipped:

  • My trusty Honda mower
  • Stihl hedge trimmer
  • New Stihl string trimmer
  • Ryobi blowers, whose prices are a steal if you catch them on sale!

Mowing Reports from Across the Nation:

  • Tim G. in the 419 writes:

Thanks to a 1.3" rain on Tuesday, the yard was a sodden mess. Many parts of the yard were too wet to mow - a bummer, but that's Ohio in the summer!

  • Benny from Yukon, OK reports:

Summer's in full swing, and so is the League! The Garage Beer Ego mower sliced through the yard effortlessly, thanks to the 85-degree sunny weather and gentle breezes. A few problem areas still need attention, and Sirius XM Prime Country, a cold Garage Beer Lime, and an Ego mower made for a successful League night!

Commissioner question: How many bonus points should I earn for the Block M in my pictures?

GO BLUE!

Cheers to a great League night, everyone!

  • Sean C. from Granger, IN says:

Last year, the backyard suffered from crabgrass due to the negligent former neighbor. To tackle that, I aerated and late-season seeded last fall. Aggressive weed and crabgrass killer were applied at the beginning of spring to keep the lawn in check.

The yard's holding up reasonably well, despite some sporadic weeds. All's part of the game, right?

Suzanne, the Texan league champion, might appreciate a new Stihl trimmer to complement her by-the-books approach. After all, she values durable tools for her home-and-garden, having already invested in a Honda mower and a Stihl hedge trimmer. With a bonus-point system in the league, perhaps a TNML Father's Day shirt would surprise her dealer father, reminding him of her sports-betting lifestyle and love for sports, including her beloved team of blues.
