Three Kings on Tour until Epiphany

Get ready to hear some tunes! The Sternsingers, a gang of kids and volunteers from Catholic parishes, are taking over the country until Epiphany, blastin' their voices in support of children's rights. Dressed as the Three Wise Men—Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar—these little carolers travel from town to town, blessin' doors and collectin' donations for charitable causes.

"It's a fantastic sight to see this tradition keep on comin' back every year, gatherin' donations for all sorts of aid projects. This year's rallyin' cry, 'Raise your voice! Sternsing for children's rights,' shines a light on a critical issue that's hard to ignore," states Social Affairs Director Frank Fillbrunn. He warmly welcomed around 50 Sternsingers and their company at the New Town Hall today, where they traditionally placed their first blessin' within city walls. The event concluded with a small feast and a filled donation box in the foyer.

So, what's the scoop on these Sternsingers? Well, they're part of an old European tradition, age-old as far back as the Epiphany celebration that celebrates the Magi's visit to the baby Jesus. Thousands of youngsters take part in this annual event, which stands out as the biggest act of solidarity among kids worldwide[1][2].

During their travelin' spree, these little serenaders make house calls, croonin' carols and leavin' chalk marks with the letters C+M+B on each door. This translates to "Christ bless this house." Their main goal? Snaggin' donations to lend a hand to children in need across the globe[1].

This tradition doesn't just help out those less fortunate—it's also an educational experience for the Sternsingers themselves. They learn about life in different parts of the world and the value of supportin' children's rights[1].

All together, the donations collected through the Sternsinger campaign make a huge impact on missionary work and children's rights:

  • Global Outreach: The collected funds are employed to support projects in various countries, offerin' essentials like food, shelter, and education to kids in need[2].
  • Awareness and Empowerment: By partipatin', German kids gain a better understanding of global issues and the significance of advocating for children's rights worldwide[1].

With Sternsingers runnin' amok across Germany, the movement continues to stand as a powerful symbol of unity and support, stressin' the importan' dedication to missionary work and children's welfare.
