Unveiling the Baristas of the Leaky Cauldron: Sequel Edition
At Hellgate High School, the coffee cart is more than just a place to grab a morning pick-me-up. It's a hub of community, camaraderie, and fun, all thanks to the dedicated volunteers who staff it.
On Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30, Libby Schneider can be found working behind the counter. A Hellgate alumni and former coach, Schneider enjoys being involved with the community she once called her own. With a sophomore at the school, she has a personal connection to the students she serves. Schneider shares a quirky fact about herself – she's terribly afraid of spiders and sharks, but has a soft spot for dad jokes.
Kelsey McCall takes over the coffee cart on Fridays as well, sharing the shift with Schneider. McCall's eldest child and middle child attend Hellgate, and she was invited to help at the coffee cart last year by a friend. McCall relishes the opportunity to work with friends she enjoys and be around students at Hellgate. She finds joy in the smiles and gratitude she sees on sleepy faces in the morning, and enjoys the fun fact that she grew up skiing the moguls in Jackson, Wyoming.
Tuesdays belong to Kristy Pilgrim, who works the coffee cart from 7:30 to 9:30. Both of Pilgrims' kids go to Hellgate, and her favourite thing about the coffee cart is the joy on sleepy faces in the morning when they get their caffeine.
On Wednesdays, Sue Bell takes her turn at the cart from 9:30 to 11:30. Bell, who enjoys seeing the different kinds of students and giving them something that might make their day a bit more fun, shares a fun fact about herself – she loves wolverines and gets to study them.
Last, but certainly not least, Jennifer Savage works at the coffee cart on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30. Savage enjoys working at the coffee cart because it allows her to be part of her daughter's high school experience after the pandemic.
These volunteers, along with many others, bring a unique energy and spirit to Hellgate High School's coffee cart. They come from varied backgrounds, but share a common goal – to support their school community, build relationships, and contribute to the overall well-being of the students they serve. Whether it's a warm smile, a friendly chat, or a well-timed dad joke, these volunteers make a difference in the lives of the students at Hellgate High School.
