Unveiling the Participants in the 2025 Edition of The British Sewing Competition!
The much-anticipated eleventh series of The Great British Sewing Bee is set to air on BBC One on July 15th at 9pm. This year, twelve new contestants will compete for the title of Britain's Best Amateur Sewer.
Among the hopefuls is JESSA, a 33-year-old head of communications from London, who loves vintage fashion, the history behind it, and views sewing as a creative outlet and powerful form of self-expression. Another contestant, YASMINA, a 30-year-old research and development scientist from Gateshead, sews as an instinctive practice that empowers her with confidence and lets her transform second-hand materials into colourful outfits.
Peter, a 45-year-old senior pre-construction manager from Devon, enjoys sewing practical, wearable pieces and repurposing old items. GAYNOR, a 72-year-old retired office manager from Port Talbot, Wales, is passionate about well-finished seams and is known for sewing tailored jackets and backless velvet evening gowns.
CAZA, a 59-year-old retired individual from Staffordshire, enjoys technical sewing, particularly topstitching and French seams. DANA, a 37-year-old performer from Durham, uses unconventional materials to create bold, standout pieces. KIT, a 24-year-old digital marketer from Manchester, transforms "awful" fabrics into beautiful garments.
STUART, a 53-year-old premises manager from Herefordshire, sews durable, repairable pieces that stand the test of time. Saffie, a 32-year-old lecturer in Product & Industrial Design from London, sews functional garments with plenty of pockets and well-fitted cuts.
The new contestants in series 11 have not been previously introduced. They include GLENDORA, a 59-year-old bus driver from Luton, who sews as a creative and practical outlet, making classic, quality garments and designing looks for soul and reggae events. NOVELLO, a 66-year-old family business owner and magistrate from London, loves expressing her creativity and sewing unique, personalised creations.
ÓRLA, a 19-year-old café worker/student from Inverness, The Highlands, pushes creative boundaries and turns unconventional materials into bold, recycled fashion looks. Unfortunately, some contestants' details are not yet available.
Patrick Grant and Esme Young will be the judges in series 11, with Sara Pascoe presenting the show. The contestants will showcase their sewing skills throughout the series, and viewers can learn more about each contestant by tuning in. SS Nahim, a 41-year-old graphic designer from Leicester, showcases his sewing skills through a blend of fashion-and-beauty and lifestyle, creating stylish home decor and unique fashion pieces for both himself and his family. MIRIAM, a 47-year-old primary school teacher from Glasgow, transforms her love for fabrics into intricate quilting patterns for home-and-garden items, continually pushing the boundaries of traditional sewing techniques.
